VICTORVILLE, CA, April 20, 2022 – KIHOMAC, Inc., a veteran owned small business with over 18 years of experience in sustainment, modernization, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics support for the U.S .Air Force, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Army,  has announced a formal Mentor-Protégé relationship with Exquadrum, Inc., a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB).

Exquadrum creates value by applying novel solutions to meaningful problems with the future as the deliverable. Its customers’ greatest challenges are solved by Exquadrum’s disciplined process of invention, engineering, design, analysis, fabrication, and testing – all within its in-house team. With two corporate divisions, Exquadrum has developed an industry-wide reputation for innovative and revolutionary rocket technologies, and for providing world-class technical services. Exquadrum was founded in 2002 and has built a solid customer base in research and development (R&D), and established years of expertise in the technical services sector. In fact, the company has grown rapidly in the last several years through large R&D and technical services prime contracts, where the Department of Defense recognizes the unique value proposition that Exquadrum brings.

Exquadrum President, Eric Schmidt, said this of this Mentor-Protégé relationship with KIHOMAC, “With our recent SBA 8(a) certification, and now this Mentor-Protégé agreement, we will be able to expand on our already impressive capabilities as we venture into a broader range of technical service opportunities and increase the value of our technical expertise to traditional aerospace and defense prime contractors in joint venture and subcontract roles. Exquadrum looks forward to continuing to deliver the highest customer service to our customers and the Federal Government, as we bring innovative solutions to their demanding technology problems.” Mr. Schmidt, a first-generation U.S. citizen born of parents from Argentina, has nearly 30 years in federal R&D procurement activities as both a civil servant and as the co-founder of Exquadrum.

This Mentor-Protégé relationship will enhance the capabilities of Exquadrum and help the company meet its business plan goals through improvements in competitiveness within the aerospace and defense sector. “With KIHOMAC’s extensive background in fabrication and advanced precision manufacturing, we are honored to mentor Exquadrum in improving upon its existing AS9100 quality system, as well as assist with 8(a) specific contract knowledge and operational experience in order to help Exquadrum establish and grow its offerings under the 8(a) program”, said KIHOMAC CEO/CFO, Ki Ho Kang. KIHOMAC is a graduated 8(a) business and a previous recipient of the Nunn-Perry Award for excellence in the Department of Defense Mentor Protégé Program.

The Mentor-Protégé Agreement, also known as an All Small Mentor-Protégé Agreement, is considered active for a period of three years and may be extended an additional three years.

The SBA Minority Small Business and Capital Ownership Development Program—commonly known as the “8(a) Business Development Program”— assists small, minority-owned, disadvantaged businesses by allowing them to compete for sole source government contracts for goods and services. Certification into the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program is a stringent process in which the business needs to be at least 51% controlled and owned by U.S. citizens who are socially and economically disadvantaged. Exquadrum will participate in the program through its graduation in 2030.
