  • Analyzes and identifies all potential sources of repair and/or determines the best means and method of repairing, overhauling, modifying or restoring reparable components
  • Performs technical/engineering analysis to identify those LRUs that are reparable only by the OEM due to technical proprietary reasons
  • Reviews all reliability historical data for same and/or similar fielded system components to ensure maintenance and repair processes have been established to fix and eliminate reliability problems
  • Recommends removal and/or replacement of prone to failure components during maintenance /repair cycle and/or replacing components with new or improved reliability ones
  • Reviews component infant mortality rates to ensure all supply support activities are in place to accommodate unscheduled removals
  • Performs data analysis and modeling to identify “bad actors”, component wear and failure trends and other adverse impacts to fleet availability and costs
  • Reviews Reliability, FMECA and FRACAS data to render logistics decisions on affected A-10 Weapon System components
  • Reviews all associated technical orders/manuals, engineering documentation, logistics, and supply chain management plans for the purpose of uncovering systemic factors contributing to poor availability, utilization and cost performance
  • Recommends component buy quantities based on wear/failure analysis to exploit economy of scale buys
  • Establishes and/or recommends revisions to Acquisition Method Code (AMC)/Acquisition Method Suffix Codes (AMSC), Acquisition Advice Codes (AAC),  to ensure an appropriate acquisition strategy plan is applied based on the criticality/non-criticality of weapon system components
  • Reviews predicted and actual MTBF for sparing analysis purposes
  • Reviews Expendability, Recoverability, Reparability Code (ERRC) and Supportability, Maintainability and Recoverability (SMR) codes for initial provisioning and post deployment sparing requirements
  • Understands sortie rates, flying hour/cycle accruals, environmental conditions, aircraft availability requirements, mission profile, centralized/decentralized supply support, pipeline spares and mission capable rate requirements and reviews for impact to fleet availability and costs
  • Prepares, revises or reviews purchase description standards or specifications that form a part of commercial contracts for repair work or new procurement
